Try to view a avi video and got the following message
required codec is not available at the avi format any suggestions?

Try installing Perian or using VLC. AVI is a container, not a format; some AVIs can't be played in Mac OS X.

For some Microsoft coded versions Flip4Mac is an option.
It has Free and Paid for options.
